This year, in conjunction with the 250th anniversary of our
nation’s founding, our bishops will consecrate the United States of America to
the Sacred Heart on June 11!

What does Consecration Mean?
"Devotion to the Sacred Heart reminds us that at the center of our faith is not a set of abstract rules, but the burning, infinite love of a person: Jesus Christ. By consecrating our diocese to His Sacred Heart, we are publicly entrusting our parishes, our families, our clergy, and our civic communities to His merciful care." ~Bishop Michael Olson, Pastoral Letter on the Consecration of the Diocese to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
When Pope Leo XIII consecrated the world to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in 1899, he wrote: “Since there is in the Sacred Heart a symbol and the express image of the infinite love of Jesus Christ that moves us to love one another, it is fit and proper that we should consecrate ourselves to his most Sacred Heart – an act that is nothing else than an offering and a binding of oneself to Jesus Christ” (Annum Sacrum).
One hundred years later, St. John Paul II also described Consecration in terms of evangelization: “Consecration thus understood is to be joined to the missionary activity of the Church herself, because it answers the desire of Jesus' Heart to propagate in the world, through the members of his Body, his total dedication to the kingdom, and to unite the Church ever more closely to his offering to the Father and his being for others” (Letter, 11 June 1999). “How necessary for humanity today is the message that flows from contemplation of the Heart of Christ! Indeed, where else, but in that source, can humanity find the reserves of gentleness and forgiveness so needed to heal the conflicts that bloody them?” (Angelus, 23 June, 2002)
A New Statue for Our Parish
Statue Blessing at the 7 pm Votive Mass of the Sacred Heart on Thursday, June 11.
The Adoration Oratory under construction inside of the Parish Hall will feature a custom life-size statue of the Sacred Heart. Hand carved and painted by the artisans of Albl Oberammergau, the new statue is arriving soon and will be blessed at the June 11 Votive Mass, the day when our nation is consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
"Whereas the Eucharist is a real presence to be worshiped, sacred images, albeit blessed, point beyond themselves, inviting us to lift up our hearts and to unite them to the heart of the living Christ. The image we venerate thus serves as a summons to make room for an encounter with Christ, and to worship him in whatever way we wish to picture him. Standing before the image, we stand before Christ, and in his presence, 'love pauses, contemplates mystery, and enjoys it in silence'" (Dilexit Nos, 57).
On the Occasion of the U.S. Bishops Consecrating the United States of America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Pray each day June 3-11:
O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus:
You know the longings of our hearts, and you desire that we enjoy friendship with you.
From your pierced side, you have poured out the wellspring of life, for which we thirst.
Your heart burns with a love for all people to return to a right relationship with you.
We celebrate the abundant gifts you have given this nation, founded on the self-evident truths that our Creator has endowed all people with the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
We make reparation for the offenses against you and against human dignity that have taken place in this nation.
May our hearts be united to yours, so that our families and communities enjoy peace and happiness; may broken relationships be reconciled, injustices repaired, and the wounds of our land be healed.
May your holy Catholic Church serve as a sign, pointing all people to your infinite love.
O Desire of Nations and Center of History, we ask you to bless these United States of America.
Who live and reign with God the Father
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
Diocesan Consecration to the Sacred Heart
In conjunction with the U.S. Catholic Bishop’s consecration of our nation, Bishop Michael Olson will also solemnly consecrate the Diocese of Fort Worth to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Sacred Heart Parish in Comanche, at 5:00 pm.
"I warmly invite all the faithful of the Diocese of Fort Worth to join me in this act of consecration, whether in person at Sacred Heart Parish or spiritually united in prayer from your own homes and parish communities" (Bishop Olson, Pastoral Letter).
Jesus promised St. Margaret Mary that He would “bless the home in which the image of my Sacred Heart shall be exposed and honored.”
When we enthrone (display) the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in a prominent place and signify that Jesus is the King, friend and brother of the family, we are responding to the invitation of the Church to make our homes “Domestic Churches”, wherein Jesus is the center and source of love for all.
If you would like to enthrone the Sacred Heart in your home, we have "kits" available in the Parish Office during the month of June.
