In 2023, St. Philip’s made the exciting discovery of a set of 14 antique Mayer windows, matching the size specifications of our church. After careful evaluation of their condition and quality, the set was purchased. Originally created in the 1920s for a Connecticut parish (St. Peter, Hartford), these windows will receive a new life and inspire a new generation of the faithful at St. Philip’s. Each one represents a scene from the lives of Jesus and Mary, and all have the beautiful artistry, rich detail, and luminous colors for which the Mayer of Munich company has been famed for generations.
Phase I Windows- COMPLETE!
Ten of the windows have now been fully restored and installed in our Phase I church. We invite you to visit and view them in person!
Phase II Windows- IN PROGRESS
Restoration is now moving forward for the remaining four windows. These are destined to be placed in the planned expansion of the church (see image below); until the expansion is built, these windows will be displayed in the new Parish Hall.
St. Philip is now seeking sponsors for the remaining four windows to begin restoration. Foster Studio has developed specialized knowledge and skills for our project; undertaking restoration now will ensure that the same artists and techniques will be available to restore these windows as beautifully as the first ten!

While the church expansion is definitely on our master plan, it will take time to proceed with this project, and in the meantime, we want to take advantage of the knowledge and skills developed by Foster Studios for these windows. Undertaking restoration now will ensure that the same artists and techniques will be available to St. Philip's.

The four windows will be displayed in "light walls", large cabinets with LED panel lighting built in to illuminate the stained glass from behind. The stained-glass panes are covered by protective tempered glass, allowing them to be located safely around parish activities.
The four windows in their light walls will be placed inside St. Mary Hall; since they depict mostly scenes from the life of Our Lady, they are especially perfect (though temporary) ornaments to the room dedicated to her.

The Window Restoration Project

Although they are a close fit for the frames in our church, the Mayer windows need some adjustments to completely fill the space, as well as cleaning, releading, and spot repairs.
Quint Foster and the team at Foster Stained Glass have been entrusted with this incredible effort. Their expertise in adaptive reuse of antique windows is well-known to our parish already in the stained-glass windows we have installed so far: for example, the massive front window of our church was created from an original antique, to which Foster's added about seven feet of perfectly matched new glass.

The Stained-Glass Windows and Forward in Faith

The window project helps our parish move “Forward in Faith” in two senses: they offer a truly unique praise of the glorious truths of our Faith for our devotion and lend their vibrant beauty to the House of God; but the stained-glass window project is also helping our Forward in Faith Campaign to expand our campus. As commemorative donations are received, the net proceeds after the restored window costs have been covered will go towards the building project.
